Thanks for visiting BoredPilot.com. I am a corporate pilot and after years of flying for the airlines and for the corporate world I decided to create this free site to help us all out. I was tired of wasting away while sitting in the crew rooms watching CNN. I thought it would be great if we could all be 'locals' in every town. I thought that if we all share with other travelers what there is to do in our own town (like the hole-in-the-wall pub or restaurant to like to eat at...) then we would all be locals. Now we can share our finds and help out the next pilot and also refresh our minds of what we have found in our travels.
Have fun! Steve - steve@boredpilot.com

Crown Plaza is right next to the airport, or take a cab to district 10, 8 minute drive. That is the place to be, nice hotels, little resteraunts every 2 feet, a mall, up and coming bussiness center. If you have a couple of days, ABSOLUTLY go up to Antigua!!! So much history. So cool. Cobble stone roads, beautiful views as you drive threw the mountians, real traditional stuff, some touristy, but also the real deal. So worth it. 45 minutes drive. Up in the mountains. If you have a flight attendant make sure she brings a jacket for the evening. Super safe!

Intercontinental Hotel across from the Multi Plaza, and the Marriot. No Mas! Best and one of only a few respectable bars is La Catina. If you have time drive up to Valle De Angles. Don't drive yourself, safety in the sense of road safety, not dangerious people. Touristy, beautiful.

Only hotels are in order, Embassy Suites, Hotel Lidotel, and the Hotel Guaparo. Nothing else. Two malls and a bolwing ally by the water park that doesnt work. They did just finish a true 5 star and I think its the name of a bank. Something like Basenco. Very nice, had brunch there, didn't stay.

Eurobuilding is 2 minutes from the airport. I Stayed there the other night, all airline crews and a nice hotel. 0 Last few nights, Marriott Playa Grande, only 10 minutes from the airport, USD more and ten fold better. Eurobuilding is very nice, but the marriott is on the Caribbean sea, great pool, huge and beautiful. 7 but that is only if you pay in local currency. Hit an ATM. Cross the street from the Marriott is a super mercado and a bakery so you don't have to blow a ton of money at hotel prices, nothing around Eurobuilding. Free breakfast at Euro, not at Marriott, Free internet at Euro, not at Marriott. Still go with the marriott, internet is like a jumi.85 a day.

For a great lunch go to the Renegade grill at the Seminole golf coarse. For dinner and you have time, drive down to Spring Creek restaurant in Spring creek. About 40 minute drive but the local seafood comes directly off the boat.

Air'Zona FBO usually has free courtesy car for pilots that can often be taken overnight. Can also get discounts at local hotels.
